Glass Studio AUN Glass Pen - The changing colors of winter
aun is the Japanese word for "om," the Sanskrit meditation mantra. The founder of aun is Akihiro Eda and the studio is located in Kurashiki. aun's glass pens are all handmade and designed by aun's team of three artisans. The nibs are ground to 7 sizes, ranging from EF to C, which requires finishing each nib with 8 gradations of sandpaper, taking about 1 hour to grind each nib. Finally, each nib is inspected under a microscope to ensure the capillaries along each nib are even for smooth ink flow to the paper.

I was nervous about this shipping given the delicate nature of it, bit it arrived perfectly intact and packaged very well! The nib is the smoothest finest, most wonderful line I’ve ever had with a glass pen.
This pen is incredibly comfortable to hold and use for long writing sessions. You need a lighter touch as it’s lightweight and the tip is very delicate. The protection sleeve goes back on the tip and it’s put back in the protective box or a lined case if I am not actively writing with it. The winter color is stunning in the sunlight and changes color as the daylight moves across my desk. The capacity allowed me to write more than half a page on a B5 size tomoe river sanzen paper journal page on a single dip that only covered a third of the nib. Yoseka’s videos of the line widths helped clinch my decision. If there are ever more of these in stock with broad or medium nibs, I will be ordering immediately, I am hooked.
